Below are recommended specifications for the size of your installation. Sohnar strongly recommend that Traffic runs on a dedicated server. A shared server will lead to performance degradation. The higher the specification of the server and the more memory the server has the better the performance.
Computer hardware is inexpensive and we would recommend you to "future proof" your installation by purchasing the fastest processor with as much memory as you feel able to afford. The server must have a Gigabit Ethernet card or performance will suffer. For installations over 60 users please discuss your requirements with Sohnar.
Network - The processes running on your network will affect your network speed. If you are running exchange, huge file sharing, ftp, web or multiple offices we recommend gigabit ethernet. Traffic is a client/server application, which requires a fast and consistent network connection. The performance of wifi varies from building to building and machine to machine. Wired connections are not essential, but recommended.
Virus software - We suggest using AVG. Norton antivirus can cause issues with document management and decrease performance of the network.
Backup Software - Retrospect on a PC may cause Traffic to disconnect from the server

Notes:
- Dedicated server machines are highly recommended. Mail, file or web servers will slow down any application running on the network, slowing down the client side of Traffic.
- The non-server version of OS X will suffice to host FileMaker Server. Windows XP Professional will also work in such situations. Traffic is not server/machine hungry, but old equipment that is already stretched will impact performance. The specifications provided are minimums not recommendations.
